Welcome to Temuka Primary
Temuka Primary School caters for the needs of students from Year 0 to Year 6. We have a proud tradition of providing education in our district for over 150 years. We are the focal point of our community and contribute to Opihi College. We have strong links with our early childhood centres and other schools in the area.
We are privileged to boast very large spacious playing fields and attractive environmental surroundings. Students are encouraged to be active in and around our environment. Our cycle track, use of scooters and daily fitness promote student activity. We have an active sports programme that links to the local sporting groups across Temuka. Our school swimming pool is still operated for younger students whilst older students use the local community pool. The local town environment including the Domain is used frequently by the school for various learning opportunities. All buildings are well maintained and provide an attractive safe and stimulating environment for staff and students.
From the beginning of 2021 Temuka Primary implemented the Governments Healthy Lunch in Schools Programme. We have opted into the schools’ donation scheme which allows access to and encourages participation by all students in events and activities.
Temuka Primary School has a strong values-based curriculum that underpins all we do. Our values are Resilience, Acceptance, Caring, Personal Excellence and Respect (RACER). Literacy and Numeracy are the cornerstones to all learning. Aotearoa New Zealand’s Histories, Social Science, ICT/DT (Information Communication Technology/Digital Technology) and other curriculum areas enhance students understanding and skills. We ensure that every student at this school can attain his or her highest possible standard of educational achievement in both the New Zealand Curriculum and using the key competencies.
We strive to develop positive social, emotional and leadership skills in our students and promote life skills through learning.
